Durable Mask Design

Low-profile masks, like the Gorilla Frameless, look sleek on your face. Overall, this is a very professional and high-quality mask in both appearance and design. The matte black finish and the single window makes for a streamlined look—no frills, just performance.
The silicone of the mask skirt is superior quality, making it a durable mask that is designed to last. ScubaPro designed the Gorilla Frameless to offer a better fit for larger framed faces, and may be best suited for wider or round face shapes.
Sealing Skirt and Large Nose Pocket

The ScubaPro Gorilla Frameless mask skirt is made of a durable silicone that claims to provide a better seal to the face. The deeper you go, the more it hugs to your face. However, the silicone is more on the rigid side, so it may not be best for divers with sensitive skin.
This mask offers a better fit for medium- to large-sized faces. One of the top features for divers with larger facial features is the large nose pocket. Because it is more rigid in design, divers with smaller noses may have difficulty equalizing. However, divers with a wider or larger nose seem to have an easier time equalizing in this mask. Additionally, divers with mustaches have reported that the Gorilla Frameless offers a nice fit.
The skirt is generally comfortable, though the silicone is more rigid than comparable TUSA masks like the Freedom HD and Paragon, which also provide a better fit for larger faces. However, the skirt of the Gorilla Frameless mask did not extend as far up the forehead as the TUSA masks, and has a sleeker design.
Easy-to-Adjust Buckle System

The ScubaPro Gorilla Frameless buckle system is easy to adjust, even with gloves on. The ease of adjustment was similar to other masks, including the Cressi A1 and the TUSA Paragon mask.
One of the best features of this mask is the wide split strap. This comfortable design reduces tension and provides a secure and snug fit.
Price/quality ratio
The ScubaPro Gorilla Frameless mask is at a higher price point compared to similar single-lens masks, but it’s often worth spending a bit more to find the best fit. Divers seeking a mask that will look and feel high performance, while also providing a better seal for larger faces, will find that the Gorilla is a great option.
Do we recommend the ScubaPro Gorilla Frameless mask?
We do recommend the ScubaPro Gorilla Frameless mask for scuba divers with larger faces. Overall, the Gorilla Frameless performed well, however there was some leaking and fogging.
This mask may need a breaking in period to provide optimum performance. Make sure to thoroughly scrub the protective coating when this mask is new and prior to the first dive to minimize fogging.
