TUSA is known for its quality masks—if one particular model doesn’t fit you perfectly, chances are they have one that will. Making great masks is what TUSA does, and the TUSA Zensee Pro is no exception. Chances are, this mask will fit, no matter your face size or shape. That is thanks to TUSA’s “Freedom Technology” which came about after years of designs resulting in a rounded, double-edge skirt made from low-friction silicone to prevent leaking and improve comfort.

This top-notch mask comes in four colors and an eco-friendly mask case. Finding comfort in a mask is one thing, but finding that same comfort in the strap is a different story. Made from thicker, sturdier silicone, the Zensee strap is one of a kind.

Holding the two parts together is the Swift Buckle 3D, a low-profile buckle designed for silent, fast, and easy adjustments. Finally, an easy-to-reach nose pocket makes equalizing a breeze.

Let’s dive in and take a closer look at the Tusa Zensee Pro mask.

My future’s so bright, I gotta wear shades…underwater

To me, the most important part of any piece of equipment is how cool it makes me look. Throw out safety, usability, and performance—I just want to be the sharpest guy on the boat.

Obviously I’m joking, but the TUSA Zensee Pro is a neat looking piece of equipment.

Outside of looking cool, the Zensee Pro plays the part to a T. Built with a Crystalview optical lens featuring both anti-reflection and anti-fog technology, this mask is top-notch. What stands out the most is the UV 420 lens treatment that blocks harmful ultraviolet (UV-A and UV-B) and high-energy visible light (HEV). It’s honestly like wearing sunglasses while diving.

That’s both a blessing and a curse. It’s great until around 60 feet (18 m), but once you start getting deeper you can really tell you are wearing a tinted lens. Not to the point where you can’t see anything, but it does diminish the limited light available.

They say the eyes are the window to the soul; I say the eyes are the window to a panicked diver. If you’re experienced, diving with experienced buddies, that should be no problem. If you are a new diver or diving with other new divers it may become an issue if there is an emergency. I wouldn’t wear the Zensee Pro while teaching classes or allow my students to wear it either. Outside of these situations you should be fine.

One of the first things I do when I get a new mask is pull off the strap that came with it and put a neoprene strap on. Obviously for testing reasons I didn’t do that. Surprisingly, the mask strap that comes with the Zensee Pro feels great. It’s thicker and more solid than most straps on the market and it didn’t slide around.

Spec Breakdown & Features

A single lens, frameless mask, measuring 7.3 x 4.3 x 4.2 inches and weighing ½ pound, the Zensee Pro is a very wide mask that fits a lot of different faces, but is light enough to feel comfortable on your face. The Zensee Pro is low-volume behind an anti-fog, anti-reflection lens that features “Crystalview” and UV 420 treatment. The rounded silicone skirt prevents leaking. Standard for TUSA masks, Swift Buckle 3D is silent and easy to adjust, both pre-dive and while diving.

Accessories

TUSA makes a wide variety of snorkels to go with your mask, in a variety of styles and colors. They also make BCDs for both men and women, as well as a handful of good regulators. But where to store and transport your gear? The TUSA rolling duffel bag is a great pick.

Price/Quality Ratio

The Zensee Pro is on the higher end of the price spectrum, but it’s not outrageously priced. Considering all the technology that has gone into making this particular mask, from the anti-fog film and the anti-reflection treated lens, to the UV 420 blocking treatment, you can understand why it costs a little bit more.

But it is definitely worth it. When it comes to a price to quality ratio, you get what you pay for. You might even save a few bucks in the end when you don’t have to buy an aftermarket mask strap.

Do We Recommend the TUSA Zensee Pro?

We do recommend the TUSA Zensee Pro mask for a myriad of reasons. The low-friction silicone skirt developed after years of testing, and leading to TUSA’s “Freedom Technology,” lends itself to a variety of face sizes and shapes, and the double feathered-edge of the skirt means less leakage.

The anti-fog coating, anti-reflection tempered glass, and the UV 420 lens treatment make the Zensee Pro a best bet when choosing a mask for your next adventure.
