TUSA is a top-notch brand, especially when it comes to masks. The Freedom Elite is no exception. Featuring the same technologies that have pushed TUSA to the forefront in mask design, the Freedom Elite delivers.

With a low-friction skirt lining, and TUSA’s own 3D Synq technology, the Freedom Elite forms to your face. The company has accomplished this by inserting a “fitting ring” that you pull on while adjusting the mask. A hinge swing allows the mask to tilt to meet your face where you need coverage.

Available in 18 color and skirt combinations, the TUSA Freedom Elite not only delivers on performance, it also delivers on style.

Let’s dive in and take a look at the TUSA Freedom Elite.

Go Ahead and Grow That Beard

It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of TUSA masks, and the Freedom Elite is no exception. There’s just something about the way they design their skirts; the shape and the silicone make them some of the most comfortable masks on the market.

Having what my friends describe as an oddly shaped face, I have trouble finding masks that don’t leak. I have never tried on a TUSA mask and not immediately fallen in love with it. In fact, I use the TUSA Freedom Tri-Quest on many dives.

With a low-friction skirt lining and TUSA’s own 3D Synq technology, the Freedom Elite forms to your face. The company has accomplished this by inserting a “fitting ring” that is pulled on while adjusting the mask. A hinge swing allows the mask to tilt to meet your face where you need coverage.

Even though I knew how the Freedom Elite would perform, I still took it out in the water to be certain. For my tests I used the “Energy Orange” with a clear skirt. In the pool, in the quarry, and in the ocean, it performed exactly as advertised.

I even grew a beard for the last leg of my tests, just to be certain of the seal. Honestly, it was like I didn’t have a beard at all. The pliability of the mask in conjunction with the 3D Syng technology allowed the mask to fit perfectly exactly where it needs to.

Spec Breakdown & Features

Measuring 8 x 4.5 x 4.5  and weighing 13.5 oz., the Freedom Elite is one of the bigger masks we tested. A single-lens, tempered glass, frameless design makes up the center of this mask. A dimpled, low-friction skirt keeps the water out. There are no lens treatments included, but with an extra-wide field of vision and low volume the sights you see are crystal clear.

Accessories

TUSA makes a wide variety of snorkels to go with your mask in a variety of styles and colors. They also make BCDs for both men and women, as well as a handful of good regulators. But where to store and transport your gear? The highly rated rolling duffel bag from TUSA is a great pick.

Price/Quality Ratio

The price for the TUSA Freedom Elite would fall on thehigh end of our mid-range category, meaning it won’t break the bank, but you probably won’t find it in the bargain bin either. With all the advancements, including the 3D Synq technology, the swivel buckles, and the hinge swing, you are getting a highly advanced technological mask for a good price.

For the price-to-quality ratio you might not find a better deal on the market. With 18 different color and skirt combinations you will be able to find a design that matches both your needs and your personality.

The Freedom Elite really stands out

We do recommend the TUSA Freedom Elite. It is one of the better masks on the market, from the premier mask manufacturer. Years of research and improvements make TUSA the go-to mask of choice for experienced and novice divers alike.

With the 3D Synq technology, a planar fit, the hinge swing, and a low-friction rounded skirt, this is the perfect mask for those who can’t ever seem to get the right fit. The Freedom Elite can—and does—fit almost any face.
