Traveling Indonesia in style on a beautiful wooden yacht and cruising by remote islands—what could be better? Liveaboard diving in Indonesia means exploring healthy coral reefs, getting a chance to encounter large pelagic species like hammerhead sharks and manta rays, and spotting some of the smallest marine creatures on the planet.

Komodo and Raja Ampat are famous as two of Indonesia’s most popular diving destinations, and they don’t disappoint above the surface either. While Raja Ampat impresses with colorful soft corals, Komodo gets divers’ hearts racing with exciting currents and adventurous encounters.

The Cordelia liveaboard offers divers and their friends an excellent base from which to explore some of the most remote regions of Indonesia. This beautifully built, traditional phinisi yacht combines centuries of Indonesian craftsmanship and modern safety equipment to give passengers the best of both worlds.

With five cabins and the capacity to accommodate a maximum of 12 divers, this is one of the smaller liveaboards in the area and a great option for groups of friends and private charters. The Cordelia also offers a leisure package for non-divers.

Diving on the Cordelia liveaboard

The Cordelia offers both diving and leisure charters, making this liveaboard a perfect choice for mixed groups of divers and non-divers or those who love to travel and enjoy a couple of dives here and there.

Divers will enjoy the large dive area at the front of the vessel’s main deck, which has ample space for everyone to prepare their equipment with the help of the crew. Divers will be accompanied by experienced dive guides, with a ratio of no more than four divers to one guide. The dive deck also caters to snorkelers who will find rental equipment there and enough space to prepare their masks and fins.

All diving is done from two tenders, ensuring that divers are dropped in just the right place, whether it is to encounter schooling barracuda, dive with sharks, spend time with manta rays, or to look for much smaller macro life.

Destinations like Komodo may be known for current-swept reefs, underwater pinnacles, and chances to spot larger species, but the crew can also take guests to calmer places.

Aside from diving and snorkeling, the Cordelia is equipped for a range of other watersports activities. Kayaks and stand-up paddleboards offer excellent options to get close to these captivating islands without necessarily getting wet. Plus, the boat’s crew offers several options for land excursions and hikes.

Highlights:

  • Spacious dive deck compared to the number of passengers
  • Variety of water sports equipment for non-divers
  • Great options for land excursions

Onboard the Cordelia

Step on this 108-foot (33 m) yacht, and you’re immediately transported into a world of luxury and exotic adventure. The Cordelia combines centuries of Bugis Sulawesi boat building heritage with modern comforts. Built from ironwood, its exterior is ready to withstand even challenging sea conditions.

Interior spaces combine ironwood and teak within cabins where passengers can relax and travel in comfort. All five cabins have been designed to maximize the available space. Cordelia’s master suite on the main deck features 180-degree views. This cabin has a king-size bed and enough space to add an additional bed, making it ideal for a family or group of friends to share.

On the upper deck, another cabin offers full-size windows and enough space for up to three guests. The remaining three cabins on the lower deck offer a combination of double, twin, and family accommodation and feature portholes. All cabins have ensuite bathrooms and AC.

The Cordelia is perhaps the only boat in the area that offers karaoke facilities, ensuring travelers are never short of entertainment. The karaoke lounge also functions as a camera setup area, adjacent to the dining room.

If you’d rather spend your time outdoors, look no further than the four large outdoor areas. With comfortable bean bags and sofas, as well as a combination of sunny and shady areas, passengers are spoiled for choice when it comes to simply taking in the breathtaking views. Try a different vantage point for sunset viewing every evening to find your favorite. You’ll certainly never struggle to find a place to relax between dives and other activities.

Highlights:

  • Versatile cabin layouts accommodate families and groups of friends
  • 180-degree views from the master suite
  • Spacious relaxation areas

Dining on the Cordelia

The Cordelia liveaboard offers 24-hour indoor dining on its spacious main deck. Divers and leisure guests are treated to a light breakfast, followed by a full breakfast, lunch, and dinner, all of which are freshly prepared on board and served buffet style.

If we had to pick a highlight, it would be the BBQ meals prepared right in front of passengers. If you enjoy Indonesian satay dishes, your food simply couldn’t get fresher than this. The Cordelia also provides divers free-flow mineral water, tea, and coffee all day long.

Do you tend to feel a little hungry in between meals? Don’t worry—the liveaboard’s crew also prepares and offers a selection of snacks throughout the day, ensuring guests never go hungry.
