A classically designed and decorated liveaboard, the Blue Melody is 125 feet (38 m) long and can accommodate up to 26 guests on its week-long tours in the Red Sea. Guests can expect up to four dives a day, including night dives.

The Blue Melody offers divers the opportunity to explore shipwrecks, experience incredible drift dives, and spot seasonal pelagics. Just a hop, skip, and jump from Europe, the Red Sea is the perfect choice for warm waters and colorful corals. Blue Melody, alongside its sister boats Blue Horizon and Blue Voyager, joined the Master Liveaboards family in 2024. A major refit at the beginning of 2025 left the boat with fully refreshed cabins and communal areas.

During topside intervals there are ample spaces to hang out, whether you’re catching a quick nap or enjoying the sea breeze on an outdoor terrace. The dive deck is a little tight, so even though Blue Melody can cater to technical divers and photographers, you might struggle for space with the extra gear if you’re planning a group trip. That said, the boat staff is always there to help you and make your trip as comfortable as possible.

Let’s dive into our review of the Blue Melody.

Diving on the Blue Melody liveaboard

When diving with the Blue Melody, there are a variety of Red Sea tours to choose from. If you think bigger is better, choose the southern routes around the world-famous marine parks of Brothers Islands and Daedalus, where strong currents invite pelagics such as thresher and oceanic whitetip sharks to visit.

For history buffs, the northern routes have countless wrecks, including the world-famous SS Thistlegorm. The northern Red Sea tends to have calmer reef sites and wall diving. All the itineraries offer a mix of (or only) these dive locations.

If you are a more experienced diver, you’ll be happy to know that you needn’t strictly follow a professional. There are, however, always guides in the water should you need assistance or want to see something particular. Also, once moored up, there’s a big flag (and flashing light at night) underwater so you can easily navigate your way back on your own.

For an extra fee, Blue Melody offers nitrox, 15L tanks, and any equipment you may want to rent. All of this should be ordered before your arrival. If you’re not nitrox or wreck certified you can do a course during your trip.

The dive deck is a little small, so if it’s a full house, you will be split into two groups. Depending on the dive site, entry is done as a giant stride off the back of the dive platform or from the two zodiacs to further out/shallower locations.

Highlights:

  • Approximately 22-24 dives on each trip
  • Divers don’t have to strictly follow a guide
  • Inflatable zodiacs have a ladder so getting in/out is much easier
  • Southern routes promise shark sightings like threshers or oceanic whitetips

Onboard the Blue Melody

Blue Melody is a 125-foot (38 m) wooden yacht that is painted white and blue with wooden accents, for that classic boat look. It was originally built in 2005 and most recently had a major refit in early 2025.

There are 13 rooms in total, accommodating a maximum of 26 guests. There are 10 twin en suite cabins on the lower deck and three double-bed cabins on the upper decks. All rooms have air-conditioning, towels, and a TV. The lower deck can understandably get a little stuffy, so if you can, we recommend booking a double bedroom.

Up a level, on the mid-deck, is where the diving and dining take place. Toward the stern is the dive deck and dive platform. Master Liveaboards does mention that Blue Melody is photographer-friendly, and this refers to a small table on the dive deck. For those with a compact or action camera that will do. But if you’re a whole gaggle of photographers, it’s not perfect and you will struggle for space.

Just next to the dive deck is the dive briefing salon, with plenty of seating and a TV. Going through that room you will reach the u-shaped dining room, which has a buffet counter at the end.

The upper deck consists of a shaded outdoor terrace, with a small bar for afternoon snacks and help-yourself hot drinks. Inside there is another salon, featuring nap-friendly sofas, plenty of fish ID and shipwreck books, and a TV to watch films/photos on. At the top there is a sun deck for topping up your tan alongside the captain at the bridge.

Highlights:

  • Plenty of chill-out areas, inside and out
  • All rooms are en suite with air conditioning
  • All guests receive a towel poncho

Dining onboard the Blue Melody

Onboard Blue Melody, guests can expect three sit-down meals a day, all served buffet- style. Breakfast is after the morning dive, and dinner is after the night dive.

For breakfast, you can preorder eggs and there are fruit jams, yogurt, and a fruit salad available, along with toast and pancakes.

Lunch and dinner are also served buffet-style, made with fresh ingredients and spices, and offering a mix of Middle Eastern and Western cuisine—think of dishes like koftas, roast chicken, hummus, eggplant salad, steamed vegetables, and pasta or rice. If you have any allergies or dietary requirements, Chef Amr and his team can accommodate you.

Between lunch and dinner, after the third dive, there are snacks, along with a refreshing fruit shake, waiting for you on the outdoor terrace.

All soft drinks, hot drinks, and nibbles are available freely throughout the trip. You can buy beer and wine onboard, but alcoholic beverages are a bit pricey.

Highlights:

  • All dietary needs are catered to
  • Preorder coffee/tea to be delivered to your door before early-morning dives
  • Hot drinks, soft drinks, and snacks are always readily available
  • Cold juice or hot chocolate ready for when you get back from diving
