Tektite is, and has been, a leader in the tactical light industry for quite some time. With their acquisition of the Tekna brand, Tektite also became involved in the knife industry.

They manufacture a handful of diving-related knives, and the Ocean Edge is a great knife from their line. Based on the same original Tekna model, the Ocean Edge has been trusted by divers and outdoor enthusiasts for years.

With the option between stainless steel or titanium, as well as the option of blunt or sharp tip, the Ocean Edge can be designed to fit your needs. Standard with both a black and an orange sheath, the Ocean Edge can be attached just about anywhere you want to put it.

Let’s dive in and take a closer look at the Tektite Tekna Ocean Edge dive knife.

Tektite Tekna Ocean Edge Spec Breakdown & Features

Made from 420 HC stainless steel (or titanium) and featuring a single-piece, fixed-blade design, the Tektite Tekna Ocean Edge is a durable, strong knife. Measuring at just over 7 inches (19.1 cm.), with a blade length of 3.5 inches (8.9 cm.), the Ocean Edge is compact enough to not get in the way, but still big enough when you need a rugged knife to do the job.

Although it weighs just 3.6 ounces (102 g), the Ocean Edge doesn’t skimp on design. Available in either blunt or pointed tip, the Ocean Edge can meet a wide range of divers’ needs.

Tektite Tekna Ocean Edge Impressions

The Tektite Tekna Ocean Edge knife is solid—as in it’s a tough piece of metal that you could run over, stick in a stump, or let your kids play yard darts with. Okay, maybe not that last one, but you get the point. If a hammer could work like a knife you’d call it the Ocean Edge.

During testing, the Ocean Edge easily cut through even the thick dock rope, especially the serrated edge. The straight edge is sharp in itself, but the serrated edge is a step above. Anything that needs to be cut while you’re diving, the Ocean Edge will do the job.

It was generally easy to get the knife in and out of the sheath, especially while wearing thinner gloves or no gloves at all. The “speed-lok” sheath has a little thumb tab that you can lift as you are removing the knife. It clips back into place as you slide it back in. The only issue is when you’re wearing thick gloves, the thumb tab can be a tad hard to lift.

This would be a great knife for divers who are rough on their gear. Another group of divers who would benefit from the Ocean Edge are those who like to pry things (trash, shells, etc.) from the ocean floor. It makes a great pry bar.

If you are a fan of blunt tip, fixed knives, check out our review of the Benchmade H2O. This is one of the best knives we tested, both super-sharp and super-rugged. If you are looking for a budget fixed knife, check out the SEAC Tajaman. It has a sharp point rather than the blunted style of the Ocean Edge, but it is still a strong knife, especially at the cost.

Do we recommend the Tektite Tekna Ocean Edge dive knife?

We do recommend the Tektite Tekna Ocean Edge dive knife. It is one of the most durable knives we tested. It has a thick handle and a thick blade designed to hold up to the toughest challenges. You could literally stab rocks with the Ocean Edge and it would still be fine.

The serrated edge is the sharper of the two sides, but the straight edge is serviceable. It’s not an expensive knife, but it doesn’t fall in the budget category either. It’s definitely a middle-of-the-road knife, both cost-wise as well as cutting capabilities. A lot of different divers could benefit from the Ocean Edge.
