Where to buy

When searching for a mask, it can be hard to distinguish between aesthetics and quality. Sometimes we’re stuck with something that looks really nice but lacks the quality we’re looking for. Lucky for us, this isn’t the case with the Sherwood Cruz. This mask holds up against its competitors in terms of quality and looks great doing so.

The Sherwood Cruz comes in five colors and features two teardrop-shaped lenses made with CE-certified tempered glass. It has a single rigid frame built for stability and a textured, supple silicone skirt for a comfortable seal on the face. It also features quick-connect, swiveling buckles that make adjustment easy. The Cruz is a low-profile, low-volume mask, which not only helps it achieve a more streamlined look but also allows the diver to see more underwater.

The Sherwood Cruz is ideal for someone who wants style and quality. Experienced divers will recognize the quality, and beginners will score a great mask that will last their entire diving career.

Let’s dive deeper into the Sherwood Cruz.

Things we don't like:

  • Lacks anti-fog treatment
  • Does not protect from UVA or UVB rays

It’s in the Details

When inspecting the Sherwood Cruz, it is clear that every little detail was carefully planned. The lenses are CE-certified tempered glass that comply with European standards to withstand pressure and give the diver a crystal-clear view. The supple silicone skirt feels softer and is more durable compared to many other masks. This also helps create a better seal on the face.

The skirt and nose piece, available only in black, look sleek and also won’t fade in the sun or salt over time. The frame colors also feature a special Sherwood-designed pattern that resembles camouflage, making it quite unique. The contrast between the bright colors of the frameand the black silicone really makes the Cruz pop.

Style Meets Function

The Sherwood Cruz is a great mask for beginners and more experienced divers alike. The low profile and low volume mean the mask sits closer to the face, and thus provides a wider field of view.

The swiveling, quick-connect buckles are level with the frame. This, combined with the low profile of the mask, reduces drag. Consequently, the mask is more hydrodynamic and lets the diver move their head more quickly.

Price/Quality Ratio

When it comes to the Sherwood Cruz, you get what you’re paying for. At an MSRP of $100 the Cruz is not necessarily cheap, but the quality is noticeable down to every detail. For starters it looks a lot more stylish compared to other masks with the same features. The materials used to build it are also high quality and it really feels that way to the touch.

Even the minute details, like the swivel of the quick-connect buckles and the texture of the frame, are evidence of craftsmanship. It is clearly a well-thought-out mask designed with the diver in mind.

The design of the Cruz also includes small details that add to the quality of the mask. The quick-connect buckles function on a swivel, which gives it a more customized and comfortable fit. In addition, the buckles are actually built into the frame rather than sitting on top, which also adds to both style and function.

The silicone also feels softer to the touch when compared to other masks. Little details like these take the Cruz to the next level when it comes to quality, which is reflected in the price.

Do we recommend the Sherwood Cruz?

If you are willing to invest a little more money on a quality mask then we definitely recommend the Sherwood Cruz. We often spend more money on something, expecting it to be better just because it is more expensive and, in the end, it isn’t worth it. This is not the case with the Sherwood Cruz.

Even from first glance, the Cruz looks more stylish than a lot of masks on the market. The frame colors really pop against the black silicone and the design looks sleek.

Upon closer inspection, details like the swiveling, quick-connect buckles take the Cruz up a notch and make it worth the cost. The frame is built around the quick-connect buckles, adding to the sleek look and also reducing drag. Little details like these make the quality of the mask stand out in a crowded marketplace.
