Where to buy

Based in Italy, SEAC makes affordable scuba and freediving equipment for divers around the world. Along with scuba and freediving, they also specialize in spearfishing. Their equipment is nice and well built. The SEAC Tajaman dive knife is one of those pieces of equipment we really enjoy.

A solid, one-piece design, made from 420 stainless steel, the Tajaman is a great knife at an even better price. It comes with a lightweight fabric sheath that is strong and secure.

Let’s dive in and take a closer look at the SEAC Tajaman Dive Knife.

SEAC Tajaman Spec Breakdown & Features

The SEAC Tajaman is a sturdy, fixed-blade knife made from 420 stainless steel. Its one-piece design makes the Tajaman a strong diving knife. The blade length of 3.74 inches (95 mm) and a handle length of 4.13 inches (105 mm) means the Tajaman is just under 8 inches total in length.

The Tajaman is lightweight, and while the actual weight is not specified by the manufacturer we can assure you it’s one of the lighter knives we tested. Not only is it lightweight and strong, the Tajaman is also extremely sharp. Both the straight edge and serrated edge cut through different thickness of ropes with ease.

SEAC Tajaman Impressions

When I first handled the SEAC Tajaman I was impressed. A knife with such a low price point that felt sturdy and strong was surprising. Not only is it constructed well, but it’s also nice and sharp.

During our testing phase, the Tajaman cut through both 550 paracord and dock rope with ease using both the straight and serrated edge, and the line cutter sliced through the fishing line easily.

Another knife that cuts through any rope we put in front of it is the Spyderco Salt 2. It’s a folding knife—and it is sharp.

The accessibility of the Tajaman was less impressive. It was easy to get out of the sheath regardless of the thickness of gloves we were using. However, getting it back in the sheath was a problem. The tip is very pointed, and the sheath is canvas. It kept getting stuck on the sheath. We had trouble with this, but not enough to not like the knife.

The other issue is that because the tip is so pointed, and it thins out so much, there is a real possibility that at some point you will snap the point off. None of this takes away from the overall strength of the knife, and getting it at this price is a steal, but it is something to note.

If durability is what you look for in a dive knife, we recommend checking out our review of the Tektite Tekna Ocean Edge dive knife.

Do we recommend the SEAC Tajaman dive knife?

We do recommend the SEAC Tajaman. It is a solid knife that’s well made, and it comes at a great price point. There were a few issues with the sheath, but outside of that small hiccup, the Tajaman is an overall great knife.

We recommend it for casual recreational divers who don’t need to pull a knife in and out multiple times per dive. It also makes a great backup knife for those who like to carry two.

Another great cost effective option is the EEZYCut Trilobite line cutter. It’s not a complete knife, but it does a great job cutting line and thin rope.
