Made from 440A stainless steel and plastic with steel screws, the EEZYCUT Trilobite will last for a long time. It comes in various colors and a few different designs. It can cut fishing line and ropes up to just under half an inch.

EEZYCUT Trilobite Spec Breakdown & Features

Since the EEZYCUT Trilobite is a non-traditional knife, the specs look a little different. It’s made from 440A stainless steel, and the cutting edge is straight. But it doesn’t have a handle like a knife. Rather, it’s made from plastic with steel screws.

The important number to remember when thinking about the EEZYCUT is .31 to .47 inches (7.8 to 12 mm). That’s the thickness of line/rope the EEZYCUT can handle—up to almost a half of an inch is decent thickness.

EEZYCUT Trilobite Line Cutter Impressions

The EEZYCUT Trilobite is a little bit different from the other knives on our list. It’s not really a knife at all. But it is a cutting tool, so we included and tested it. I have to be up front, I already own one of these. It might actually be my favorite accessory that I carry while diving.

I just attach it to my computer and I have it ready to go when I need it. I don’t always have to pull out a knife, but on just about every dive I cut some fishing line to clean up the ocean.

During our testing phase we tested the EEZYCUT the same way we tested other knives. The only difference is that we didn’t try to cut the thick rope, because it just wouldn’t fit. The Trilobite was easily accessible. You just pull the tab and slide it out. It has velcro on both sides of the tab, so it doesn’t matter which way you put it back.

It cuts fishing line and small diameter rope easily. And the way it is designed you are protected from cutting yourself. We can’t recommend the EEZYCUT Trilobite enough. Even if you already have and carry a dive knife you won’t regret adding this to your arsenal. And at this price, you’d be unwise not to.

If you are looking for a line cutter that is manufactured by a diving-specific company we recommend the Dive Rite Line Cutter, which is very similar to the EEZYCUT Trilobite.

While it’s an actual knife, I can’t help but recommend the Benchmade H2O dive knife. Of all the knives we tested, it had the best line-cutter section.

Do we recommend the EEZYCUT Trilobite line cutter?

We do recommend the EEZYCut Trilobite line cutter. We absolutely believe this one little piece of equipment should be in every diver’s gear bag. Not only is it great at cutting fishing lines and smaller ropes, but because of its original purpose as a seatbelt cutter it can also cut BCD straps in case of an emergency.

It costs next to nothing and there are a ton of colors/designs available. A lot of divers we know just clip them to their computers or their waist belt and then they never have to worry about if they have them or not. And then they simply get rinsed with the rest of your gear.

If you’re thinking about safety while diving in general it’s always good to refresh before you head out on your next trip. We’ve compiled a short list of equipment that may or may not be in your bag—but all of it should be.
