We love the simplicity of the entire Dive Rite line. That’s not to say that their equipment is “simple,” but it is condensed. They don’t have a multitude of different regulators; they sell one fin set; and they have just a small variety of BCD setups. One thing is for sure, though— it’s all high-quality, and that goes for the Dive Rite Line Cutter too.

This tool is simple, easy to access, attachable almost anywhere on your gear, and really affordable. Made from high-quality surgical-grade stainless steel and fiber-reinforced nylon, the Dive Rite Line Cutter is one accessory you can’t pass up.

Let’s dive in and take a closer look at the Dive Right Line Cutter.

Dive Rite Line Cutter Spec Breakdown & Features

Coming in at only 1.8 ounces (51 g), the Dive Rite Line Cutter is extremely lightweight. It’s small as well, measuring 4.5 x 2.5 inches (11.4 x 6.3 cm). Its compact nature means this line cutter can fit almost anywhere and attach to almost any piece of your equipment.

Extremely sharp and made from 420 surgical-grade stainless steel, the Dive Rite Line Cutter is made to get you out of the entanglements you might find yourself in. The handle and sheath are both made from fiber-reinforced nylon and both are strong.

Dive Rite Line Cutter Impressions

It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of Dive Rite equipment, and we are big fans of line cutters around here too. They’re a great piece of equipment that’s easy to strap onto your BCD or computer on your wrist. They are affordable and, above all, they are easy to get to and use. The Dive Rite Line Cutter is exactly what we’re talking about—easy to get to and easy to use.

During our testing phase, the Dive Rite Line Cutter performed admirably. It cut through fishing line and 550-paracord ropes easily. It’s sharp and easy to use.

It’s easy to get in and out of the little sheath; the only small issue I had was that the pull strap only has velcro on one side. This means you must put it back in a certain direction. It’s not a huge deal, but you have to be cognizant of what direction you face the line cutter.

My only other small complaint is that the Dive Rite Line Cutter only has one blade, whereas the most direct competitors, EEZYCUT Trilobite and the Akona Line Cutter, both have two. This is not a huge deal, and it wouldn’t stop me from using Dive Rite’s version. I just wish there was an option to get a line cutter with two blades.

Check out the EEZYCUT Trilobite line cutter and do the comparison yourself. You really can’t go wrong with either. I believe every diver should carry a line cutter on every dive.

If you are dead set on only having a knife, we recommend one with a great line cutter as part of the blade. It doesn’t get much better than the Benchmade H2O. Not only is the blade sharp, but the line cutter section may be the best on the market.

Do we recommend the Dive Rite Line Cutter?

We do recommend the Dive Rite Line Cutter. It’s a great little addition to any diver’s kit. It fits just about anywhere; can attach to almost any piece of gear you’re wearing, and it doesn’t cost much.

A lot of divers think, “I carry a knife, I don’t need a line cutter.” But I want you to think about where you carry your knife and how easy it is to reach if you are truly entangled. You can simply strap the Dive Rite Line Cutter to your wrist and, even if you’re tangled up, you can reach it.

Since we are talking about knives, if you don’t know where to start, take a look at our rundown of the best knives on the market to help make the right choice.
