When people think of quality knives in general, not just dive knives, they think of only a handful of brands, and Benchmade is near the top of that list. But when people think of dive knives, for some reason they don’t have the same thought. We’re here to tell you to change your thinking. The entire water series from Benchmade is top-notch, and that includes the Intersect.

The Intersect is a great knife for traveling. It’s lightweight and can fit right on your BCD. The MagnaCut stainless steel and fixed blade means it’s tough and can handle anything you throw at it. It’s sharp, both in cutting capabilities and design.

Let’s dive in and take a closer look at the Benchmade Intersect dive knife.

Benchmade Intersect Spec Breakdown & Features

The fixed blade of the Benchmade Intersect is made from CPM MagnaCut stainless steel and measures at 2.68 inches (6.8 cm). The handle length is 3.87 inches (9.8 cm), making the total length 6.55 inches (16.63 cm).

The Santoprene handle is comfortable and always feels secure. The drop-point tip and straight edge makes for a great cutting instrument.

Benchmade Intersect Impressions

I really like Benchmade knives. They’ve always come in handy while being outdoors, whether I’m camping, hiking, or fishing. I don’t have a ton of experience with their underwater series though, so I was excited to test out the Intersect.

Right away I knew the Intersect was a quality knife. It’s one of their smaller knives, but it packs a punch. During the testing phase, the Intersect cut through everything we threw at it, from strong 550 paracord to thick braided dock rope.

Accessibility was a little trickier. For most of the diving we do it’s fine, but when you put on thick gloves, you might run into a problem. You can get it out just fine, and you can actually get it back in fine as well. It’s the securing part that is difficult. It has a snap closure, but it’s hard to use at times.

If you want a larger knife, but one that still comes from Benchmade, check out the Benchmade Undercurrent.

We think the Intersect is a great choice for traveling. Its small, lightweight build is perfect to attach to a BCD or a waist strap. It is priced a little higher, but you’re paying for quality. If the price is still just too high for you, but you want a smaller knife for traveling, we recommend the Promate Sharp Tip Titanium BC knife.

Do we recommend the Benchmade Intersect dive knife?

We do recommend the Benchmade Intersect. This is a great little knife that’s perfect for the traveler. It’s easy to attach to a BCD or to a waist strap. It is sharp and can cut through just about any rope.

It is a little pricey, but with Benchmade you are paying for quality. Benchmade has been serving folks in the outdoor industry for years; now they make great knives for water enthusiasts. You won’t be disappointed. If you really like the Benchmade line of knives, we recommend you check out our review of the Benchmade H2O as well.
