Rash guards can be used in various water activities, above or below the water line. After testing, we think the BARE Eclips Hooded Rash guard is best suited for topside activities, such as fishing, boating, or stand-up paddleboarding.
The BARE Eclips features a hood, which isn’t something we see too often with rash guards. We’re assuming that if you’re out in the sun with your rashguard on, you’re probably wearing a hat too.
However, we thought the hood was agreat addition to protect our necks, similar to a Buff neck gaiter. On a boat or stand-up paddle board, where the sun’s angle can constantly change and it’s so easy to get burnt, a hood is an ideal feature for a rash guard.
Another feature that makes it more suitable for above-water activities is the convenient utility pocket on the back. We were able to stash an iPhone 15 Pro inside this fairly sized pocket. However, since rash guards are lightweight, the pocket doesn’t have much support for heavier items, so it’s best suited to smaller items like car keys or a pocket knife.
The BARE Eclips is made of a recycled PFC-free polyester fabric, and boasts a 50+ UV rating. The quick-drying rash guard also has an antimicrobial treatment, which is particularly useful for professionals who need resilient gear and want to still look (and smell) fresh.
The BARE Eclips hooded rash guard is available for both men and women. The men’s is available in light sky blue and the women’s is white with a turquoise torso. For those who love to match, much of Oceanic’s gear, such as fins or masks, comes in white and/or turquoise. Our favorite has got to be the Oceanic Shadow, with its soft silicone that’s extremely comfortable.
Do we recommend the BARE Eclips hooded Rash guard?
If you’re tired of slapping on endless sunscreen and need a product that can protect you all day and still be fresh a week later, the BARE Eclips is a great choice. Sun seekers can also be ensured to get a properly fitted rashie since it is available for both men and women.
We recommend this for watersport enthusiasts or those working on the water, and think features like the hood, the small pocket, and the boardshort connectors will be very useful. The fabric is quick-drying so if you get in the water—deliberately or not—you won’t be wet for long.
