There is perhaps no worse feeling on a dive than being cold, and once the shivers set in there’s no turning back. One of the best ways to stay comfortable underwater is to keep your feet warm.

The BARE 7 mm Ultrawarmth Boots are part of a collection incorporating Omnired Infrared Thermal Technology. This orange fabric lining conserves heat and boosts thermal recovery, in and out of the water. If you need warm boots, these BARE 7 mm are the warmest we’ve ever tried. And, with the extra-hard and well-gripped soles, you’ll never need to take them off.

Spec Breakdowns & Features

On our recent trip to Malta, we got to try out the BARE 7 mm Ultrawarmth Boots. Malta is renowned for its challenging shore entries, and with the water temperature hovering at a chilly 60-64 F (16-18 C), it provided the ideal conditions to evaluate the boots’ warm lining and tough exterior.

BARE 7 mm Ultrawarmth Boots technology

The main feature of these booties is their Ultrawarmth Omnired Infrared Thermal Technology, which has been FDA-approved to retain body heat and boost thermal recovery. This is achieved via 13 thermo-reactive minerals embedded in the orange lining.

This fabric converts body heat into infrared energy, which is then reflected back to the body. The orange lining covers the entire interior of the boot, which not only provided us with comfortable padding but also never-ending warmth.

The outer part of the boot is equally equipped for challenging conditions, with a sturdy hard sole, a reinforced toe, and a heel cap. The neoprene is also double-glued and blind-stitched to prevent water from seeping in. The sole, about an inch thick with arch support, and the boot’s ankle-high design made us feel secure and stable walking over uneven or slippery ground.

Another feature we loved was the fin tab on the heel of these boots. Since divers can only pair open-heeled fins, such as the Zeagle Recon, with booties, having a tab ensures that the fin strap or bungee stays securely and comfortably in place throughout your dive.

Do we recommend the BARE 7 mm Ultrawarmth boots?

During our trip of several dives a day across various days, we were so glad to have these boots. The thick neoprene and orange lining not only made the boot very warm underwater, but also comfortable to walk in. The hard soles are sturdy with tread so we could confidently traverse any rocky terrain or slippery floors.

If you need warm boots, these BARE 7mm are about as warm as they get and we highly recommend them for cold conditions. We must note that these booties are reasonably wide and bulky, so it’s worth measuring your fin’s foot pocket to ensure they fit.
