Aqualung is known for its durable scuba products and their Phazer Fins are a testament to this. Becoming a recreational diver favorite when they came on the scene in 2019, the Phazers are still a great scuba fin with fast, efficient power.

Aqualung’s ‘wave rib’ technology combines softer rubber and stiff plastic and gives that extra push and speed with every kick. They propel you through the water fast, and very efficiently. While it is a longer fin—so you will need strong legs for your kicks—you do not need a lot of effort to move.

Dive into our full review for all the details on the Aqualung Phazer fins.

Aqualung Phazer Fins Diving Features

The Aqualung Phazer fins are designed to be a fast, efficient fin. You can move easily (and far if you have to) with gentle kicks and not a lot of effort.

They are a longer fin so they are ideal for open-water diving. But again, because you do not need a lot of motion to keep moving with these, you can easily dive on reefs without worrying about disturbing the surrounding coral.

Looking at photos after a test dive, the fins did appear a bit floppy during turns but I did not feel like it negatively affected my maneuvering. And, during one dive, I unfortunately surfaced a good distance from the boat and had to back-kick my way back. Kicking was comfortable with no cramping or heavy breathing, and super speedy!

Aqualung Phazer Fins Straps

The Aqualung Phazer fins come with a rubber bungee strap with a heel-pad. The straps were very comfortable and easy to don and doff. If you prefer a spring strap it is available to buy separately and the rubber bungee can be switched out.

The strap sits high up on the heel so check you have dive boots with an appropriate heel cap to prevent the strap from slipping.

Aqualung Phazer Fins Blade

The blade on the Aqualung Phazer fins has been thoughtfully developed. Aqualung uses different materials in different parts of the blade to create a highly efficient kicking experience.

Aqualung’s best design feature on the Phazer fins is its unique integration of different materials in the side rails. Here, a distinct “wave” line is formed in the rib by a stiffer plastic surrounded by a softer rubber. This gives the fin a ‘kick’ so to speak, meaning you get a push of speed. This makes every kick super-efficient.

The blade’s steep angle includes a wide, soft pocket designed to scoop a large amount of water and a channel leading to a vent at the toe to ensure smooth water flow. Again this gives great propulsion without straining the legs.

Aqualung Phazer Fins Colors & Accessories

Whether you like simple black or a pop of color, Aqualung Phazer fins have six different color options. They come in black with a thin gray highlight, red with black highlights, blue with black highlights, yellow with black highlights, and some three-color combos—either white, black and blue, or white, black and pink.

Our biggest recommendation for accessories with the Phazer fins is to have dive boots with an anti-slip heel cap.

Price/Quality Ratio of the Aqualung Phazer Fins

The Aqualung Phazer Fins come in at a mid-range price. They could definitely be your forever fins, with a design that is comfortable to use without a lot of strain. And these scuba fins can easily serve any diver moving from beginner through to advanced.

Given the thoughtful design, quality materials,  and durable build the Phazer fins price is fair and in line with other fins.

Do we recommend Aqualung’s Phazer fins?

Yes, definitely! Our editor who is prone to foot and leg cramps loves these fins. Since receiving these to test she has had comfortable dives, both long dives and multiple dives with no strain and no pain.

They fall into a midweight category, so they are not the lightest for travel, but definitely not hard to travel with either. The other concern is their length—while they work well for open-water diving, they would not be the best for wrecks, caves, or confined spaces.

They are extremely efficient, which is a benefit on so many levels when diving. You can conserve your energy when taking a slow dive, but also get great power and control with little effort in currents. They’re a great all-around fin and good value for money.
