DELRAY BEACH, FL – [February 2, 2026] – Dive safety continues to evolve, and Mares is helping lead the way with the Sirius L dive computer, now gaining industry attention for introducing a smarter, more flexible approach to post-dive safety through its groundbreaking Safety Stop+ feature.

Safety Stop+ represents a meaningful shift in how divers manage shallow stops. Powered by the transparency of the Bühlmann ZH-L16C algorithm, the Sirius L gives divers the option to extend their safety stop until a Gradient Factor (GF) of 70 is reached—an approach supported by recent research from Divers Alert Network (DAN) as a way to significantly reduce the risk of decompression sickness (DCS).

Unlike mandatory decompression, Safety Stop+ is entirely optional and seamlessly integrated into the dive experience. It encourages divers to spend a few extra minutes in the shallows—off-gassing, relaxing, and preparing for their next dive—without adding complexity or pressure.

This new feature debuts in the Sirius L and will become standard across all Mares dive computers, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to proactive, research-informed safety solutions.

“The goal was to make advanced safety thinking accessible to every diver,” said Marco Maestri, Director of Sales, HEAD Watersports NA. “Safety Stop+ gives divers better information and flexibility, allowing them to make smarter decisions without changing the way they already dive.”

Beyond Safety Stop+, the Sirius L delivers a streamlined yet powerful dive experience. Its lightweight design houses a clean segment LCD display and supports Air, Nitrox, Multi-Gas Nitrox (up to three gases), Freedive, and Bottom Timer modes, making it suitable for a wide range of diving activities. Additional features include intuitive two-button navigation, a user-replaceable CR2450 battery rated for up to 100 dives, and Bluetooth connectivity with the Mares and SSI Apps for digital logging and firmware updates.

With Sirius L, Mares demonstrates that meaningful safety innovation doesn’t require added complexity—just smarter design.

Safety Stop+: a small change that makes a big difference.
